Apocalypto

Sugar tits, this movie is amazing. At the end of the movie, I kept saying to myself "how did he...?" but then I couldn't end the question because there is just so much about the process of making this film that I just can't fathom. I promise you I kept thinking that all the way home. To make a movie like this you should hear about years of pre-production, going over budget, problems on the set, all the kinds of things you heard about Titanic or the kind of set reports you got from LOTR. But this movie just kinda showed up on schedule as a huge epic that no one was expecting. Yeah we all knew Mel Gibson was making a movie about the Mayans who totally disappeared a long time ago. But somehow I don't think any one was expecting this enormous feat. It's everything a movie should be just like The Departed is. Completely entertaining, well-made and well-acted MOVIES. I used the word film before because it is to be considered along side great films but it's really a movie. And that's what we want. You want to be riveted, get emotional, be blown away. That's the movie going experience people put their shoes on to go to the theater for. And these Oscar worthy movies are just perfect. They're not pretentious and stuffy like Oscar films usually are, that's why these are what should be rewarded. Will they be? We'll see. Crash was such a steaming pile that I'll never trust the Academy again.
